With communities in the River Pinn catchment experiencing frequent flooding, there has been a real need to come up with solutions and manage stakeholder expectations. A significant aspect of their role has been in planning and delivering engagement activities across the different projects. Each project requires a bespoke approach to engagement, taking into consideration local issues, history, and audience. Throughout this period, they led on trialling an online engagement tool (Engagement HQ) for the River Pinn projects to ensure engagement remained effective and targeted during the pandemic. In addition, they are now helping engage with stakeholders on the West London Communities project which forms part of the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan.

Environmental Survey Officer, LBTH (2019 – 2020)

As a contractor working directly with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH), they helped collect and analyse commercial waste data for approximately 14,000 businesses. This was undertaken following a change in contract, to move the councils waste services in-house. The role involved engaging with a variety of business owners to ensure duty of care was being fulfilled, and to encourage better recycling practices. With a large number of businesses to meet, it was essential to adopt an organised and structured approach to surveying.

At Bioregional, an award-winning charity, they worked closely with Nando’s Project Managers to develop a bespoke specification and procurement guide, to help Nando’s achieve higher levels of energy efficiency and incorporate use of lower-impact materials easily and cost efficiently for every refurbishment and fit-out across the estate. This followed Nando’s vision to design, build and fit its greenest restaurants in the country. As the main sustainability consultant, they were responsible for delivering the bulk of the research into best practice, setting up meetings and workshops with suppliers and project managers, and producing the content for the guide. This included work on site and within the Nando’s sustainability team itself to provide ongoing expertise and advise throughout the project.

Sustainability Consultant, Innocent Drinks Sustainable Buying Guidelines (2017-2018)
