Hendrik is an adaptable, conscientious, and solutions-focused project and programme manager. Hendrik is a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE) as well as a NEC ECC Accredited and registered professional (NECReg).

Hendrik offers experience leading multidisciplinary projects and programmes for a variety of clients establishing collaboration to build and maintain strong relationships. He has a strong focus on added value and cost-effective delivery, striving for excellence by drawing on experience gained from working within complex environments and for numerous clients.

Hendrik has undertaken projects and programmes for various clients including Babcock, Southern Water, United Utilities, Scottish Water, Severn Trent, South West Water, EDF, GDF, Greater Manchester Public Transport, the Environment Agency as well as several international clients. He has designed drainage systems, pipelines, water treatment works and flood defences. Hendrik is also an experienced project manager and programme manager having managed schemes and programmes up to £45m.

ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER

Isles of Scilly Enhancement -  Programme Manager (South West Water) – from 2023

Hendrik is the programme manager managing the enhancement programme for a critical programme for South West Water with a value of approximately £36m. Hendrik is responsible for programme performance including cost, schedule and scope managing an internal team, internal and external stakeholders as well as several contractors and consultants.

Hendrik is also Assistant Framework Manager for Arcadis and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the framework account.

Dock Redevelopment – Senior Project Manager (Babcock International) –2022 to 2023

Hendrik is Senior Project Manager managing a project management and site team responsible for several projects within the dockyard with a value of approximately £45m. This programme was a critical programme to the client which enabled further development of the dockyard to continue.

Dock Redevelopment - Project Manager (Babcock International) – 2020 to 2022

Hendrik was Client and NEC ECC Project Manager for a dock yard redevelopment programme managing several contractors and projects. Hendrik was responsible for project development, and construction management working closely with designers, contractors, and stakeholders. The challenging nature of the programme meant that a strong client focus and collaboration were required to ensure success.

Reservoir Enabling Works Projects – Project Manager (Southern Water) - 2018 to 2020

Hendrik was the project/programme manager for over 50 schemes within a regional programme of works. Hendrik was responsible for the scope, cost and schedule of the schemes working closely with the design team, contractors, operations staff, and the environmental team with an overall value of £32m. The outcome of this programme enabled Southern Water to meet their regulatory requirements.

Developer Services S185 Diversions – Project Manager (Southern Water) - 2020

Hendrik was project manager within the developer services department responsible for S185 water main diversions. This programme of work involved liaising with stakeholders as well as cost, schedule, and scope management. Hendrik was responsible for an overall programme of work of approximately £12m.

Reservoir Enabling Works Projects – Senior Engineer (Southern Water) - 2016 to 2018

Hendrik was Senior Engineer/Consultant within the Engineering Technical Solutions (ETS) team working on several projects aimed at enabling maintenance works on water supply reservoirs and other assets. The works include the design of storage solutions, bypasses, pumping stations and rezoning. Hendrik’s work involves liaison with operation staff, optioneering and the development of solutions from the options stage to a level which can be passed to the delivery partners and Contractors for implementation.

Secondment – Hardham WSW Sludge Centrifuge (Southern Water) - 2017

Hendrik was seconded into the project management team as a Senior Consultant. He was responsible for the coordination of multiple subcontractor designed elements within the scheme. Hendrik also led the design of several civil elements of the project including the road and drainage design. This project at one of Southern Water’s main operational sites enabled the site to meet its regulatory requirements and upgraded several elements of the works.

Beer Wall Phase 3 - ECC Site Supervisor and ECC PM - Environment Agency, 2015 to 2018

The project comprised the construction of new inlet structures, new river channels and tilting weirs adjacent to the A372 east of Bridgewater, Somerset. The role involved the managment, supervision and inspection of construction works, being the interface between the Client, Contractor and Designer as well as financial and contractual management. The overall construction value is approximately £3.2m. The project was completed and now delivers greater control on two critical drainage channels in the Somerset Levels.

Developer Services – Project Manager (South West Water) –2017 to 2018

Senior Engineer within the developer services department responsible for water main requisitions for residential, commercial and industrial developments from inception through to construction. Hendrik also provided technical governance improving the technical capability of the team enabling issues to be identified early and resolved.

LNW CP5 Coastal Projects – Design Manager (Network Rail) - 2015 to 2016

Hendrik was Design Manager and Technical Lead for thirteen sites for Network Rail investigating works required to protect an operational railway line from coastal erosion. The role involves design development and the preparation of option reports, drawings and cost estimates. This project significantly extended the use of the line and offered additional protection from weather events.

Dousland Water Treatment Works – Project Manager  (South West Water) - 2014

Hendrik was Project Manager and Technical Lead preparing the outline design of bypass arrangements and pipework to enable the chlorine contact tank to be taken out of commission for rehabilitation work. In addition to this requirement an investigation was undertaken to determine whether the WTW could be taken offline in an emergency and the network fed from other sites. This work also involved liaison with operations staff for the network and for the WTW to determine the strategy for back feeding the works and maintaining supply.

Fox Park Service Reservoir – Project Manager  (South West Water) - 2014

Hendrik was project manager and technical lead on a project to remove areas of low flow from the service reservoir. Works included CFD modelling to investigate options to improve flow through the reservoir, internal baffle curtain options and the redesign of internal pipework and access.
