Amanda is an experienced sustainability advisor, partnership manager and stakeholder manager with over 25 years’ experience in commercial, Government and Water and Environment Sector. This includes 8 year’s working for WRAP, a leading global climate change and circular economy charity on the delivery of the Courtauld Commitment and launch of the Plastics Pact voluntary agreements. Amanda has also worked with the Soil Association, consultancy Eunomia.

More recently Amanda has taken on a role providing Senior Stakeholder Engagement services to the Environment Agency, driving the engagement and stakeholder awareness for the implementation of a number of key Flood Alleviation Schemes in East Anglia.

Environment Agency – the Nene Water Management Strategy - July 2021 – present

Delighted to be seconded as the Engagement Lead for the development of this ground-breaking holistic strategy The aim of the Nene Water Management Strategy is to provide a clear direction for the most economically, environmentally, and socially sustainableway to maintain the navigable section of the river Nene and manage water levels throughout a 100-year appraisal period. The strategy also aims to contribute to a wide range of UN Sustainable Development Goals, take account of the wider benefits of the river and be adaptable to future climate and population changes. Due to the holistic nature of the strategy the number of stakeholders identified to date is in excess of 300.

Stakeholders included representatives from local Government and a wide range of interest groups including communities, flood management, health and wellbeing, environment and biodiversity, navigation and recreation, economic growth including tourism and water resources and include specifically North Northamptonshire Council, West Northamptonshire Council, Peterborough City Council, Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority, the Nene Rivers Trust, Natural England, Historic England, Anglian Water Services, the Anglian Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (ANRFCC), NFU, Wildlife Trust, landowners, Industrial Drainage Boards, parish councils and many more. 

Environment Agency – Asset Performance Engagement Advisor – July 2021 - present

Engagement Advisor supporting Asset Performance and Field teams in the Lincs and Northants areas to deliver comprehensive and effective engagement. This role ranges from delivering a programme bitesize training for these teams to developing a suite of resources such as key messages and lines to take, template factsheets, template letters, co-ordinating and writing the quarterly ANRFCC paper and helping team members to both respond to queries and plan proactive engagement. 

Working with the Asset Performance and Field Teams for the South Humber and East Coast, Witham and Welland Nene areas with their engagement with local communities, businesses, partners and parish councils.

The Sustainability Journey Ltd – Director, September 2020 – present

Providing freelance stakeholder engagement and sustainability consultancy services to a wide range of commercial and public sector organisations.

Clients included Safe Store, Peel L&P Group (Media City), HM Global, Better Buying, The Bread and Butter Thing, Achieve Goal 12 and many more.

The Soil Association – Interim Product Development Manager and National Account Manager - August 2019 – December 2019

Interim National Account Manager and new Product Development Manager in relation to the Food for Life and Green Kitchen Standards programmes.

Clients included Sodexo, Compass and ISS.

Eunomia Research and Consulting Ltd – Interim Senior Consultant, Sustainable Business – July 2018-October 2018

Tasked with engaging new private and public sector businesses and providing advice and support with regard to sustainable business, natural capital and energy.

New clients engaged included Nestle, Pizza Hut, Arla, OCS and the British Retail Consortium.

WRAP, Business Account Manager or the Courtauld Commitment and the Plastics Pact – August 2011 to March 2018.

A Business Account Manager to a portfolio or organisations in the food and drink sector. This involved engaging new businesses to become signatories to WRAP’s voluntary agreements and working closely with a wide range of departments within each organisation to provide sustainability advice.  Departments included for example, new product design, procurement, marketing, buying, supply chain, ethical trading, sustainability, commercial, packaging and labelling. The role involved helping each organisation to identify their current environmental performance with regard to food waste, packaging optimisation, carbon emissions and water usage, their key hotspots and helping them to develop projects to improve their environmental performance. 

Clients included Marks & Spencer, Lidl, Co-op, Produce World, Carlsberg (UK), Britvic, Brecon Carreg, Greene King, Cott Beverages, Tulip, Produce World, Concha y Toro UK, the British Soft Drinks Association and the British Beer and Pub Trade Association and many more.

AEA Technology Plc – Business Development Manager (new markets) – December 2001 – July 2010.

A Business Development Manager tasked with the role of finding opportunities to support new public sector clients. Key responsibilities included developing market strategies, developing relationships with key client and partner contacts, budget management, matrix team management and overseeing tender submissions. 

New clients included Department for Education, Department for Work and Pensions, Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Research Councils and the Big Lottery Fund.
